The Oregon State Marine Board will take public comment on recreational boating on the Upper Rogue River at a meeting Wednesday at Rogue Community College.

The meeting is considered an all-day event that is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. in Room 129 at the RCC/SOU Higher Education Center in downtown Medford.

Illinois Valley scored all three of its goals in the first half, cruising to a 3-0 District 5 win over Rogue Valley Adventist on Monday in Cave Junction.

Servando Vargas, Mason Richardson and River Lahey scored the goals for Illinois Valley. Ever Ponder picked up the assist on all three goals.

Jackson County Search and Rescue rescued a hiker who became lost while trying to descend Mount McLoughlin, a relatively common occurrence on the poorly marked peak.

Rescuers located the 40-year-old Central Point man at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, saving him from spending the entire night on the mountain where temperatures plunged to 29 degrees. He was wearing only a cotton T-shirt and shorts, according to the sheriff's office. Read More »

For Donna Whaley, quilting is more than sewing together pieces of fabric into a more complete whole. It's about sharing a piece of herself as well.

"Mostly what I enjoy about quilting is that, once I determine who the quilt is for, my heart goes into it and I'm praying for that person and it's a part of me," she says. "It's a part of me that I'm giving to other people.
